Siding is a protective material on the outside of a home or business and is the first line of defense against nature's elements. It protects from the sun, rain, snow, heat and cold. Siding helps create a stable, more comfortable environment on the interior of the home.
Siding consists of weather-resistant material that are smaller than the wall they cover allowing for expansion and contraction of the materials due to moisture and temperature changes.

James Hardie Siding
Hardie Board siding is a super durable siding product that looks amazing. It’s long lasting and comes with a fabulous warranty, its made of cement sand and cellulose fibers which combine to create an outstanding material to both protect and beautify homes.
There are many reasons to choose James Hardie fiber cement siding over vinyl. The first of which is appearance James Hardie siding is over five times thicker than vinyl allowing for deeper grooves and a more authentic wood grain effect. The result is more elegant than vinyl (which Is plastic), particularly on a historic home.
Then comes the function. Vinyl melts easily in a fire (or even from the reflection of the sun of Low-E windows) James Hardie products are noncombustible, vinyl may crack and warp from the elements. James Hardie products are more durable and resist warping, sagging and melting.
Vinyl Siding
Vinyl siding can be a great cost-effective way to re-side your home or business and spruce up your curb appeal. Most vinyl siding installed in decades past was .040" or .042" thickness. While vinyl siding is still available in thinner specifications, Refined Contracting LLC prefers to use vinyl siding with a minimum thickness of .044". Thicker siding will provide a cleaner look with less saves, and more more resilient to damage over it's lifespan.
New technology has allowed for manufacturers to produce vinyl that is very resistant to fading, now allowing for richer and darker colors that look great for a lifetime!
Other options are vinyl shakes or vertical siding to provide accents. These materials are commonly used on the front gables or small sections to provide accents. Please note that shakes are typically an additional cost as the material and labor for installation are more expense.
